Largest Prime Number


The number is 17,425, 170 digits long. This is far from the last prime number which was discovered in 2008 which was a small 12,979,189 digits long.

Another way to express this number found is 2 to the 57,885, 161 power minus 1. This was discovered by a University of Central Missouri mathematician, Curtis Cooper. This was found as a part of Seti. This was the third prime number discovered by Cooper.
